Star Trek first aired over 50 years ago. Created by Gene Roddenberry in 1964, the franchise has spawned numerous television series, films, comics, novels, games, and fan fiction...and now there's a Trek-themed GeoArt series in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
Seven of Nine was born Annika Hansen. She was traveling with her exobiologist parents, who were on a multi-year mission to find and study the Borg, when they were captured and assimilated. Annika then became Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01.
The Voyager crew separated Seven of Nine from the Collective after she'd spent 13 years as a Borg drone. Most of her Borg implants were removed and she slowly regained her Humanity, but Seven could never be completely separated from some parts that were vital to her survival. She would, on rare occasions, receive transmissions from the Borg Queen or other Borg devices.
