Star Trek first aired over 50 years ago. Created by Gene Roddenberry in 1964, the franchise has spawned numerous television series, films, comics, novels, games, and fan fiction...and now there's a Trek-themed GeoArt series in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
Ferenginar, in the Alpha Quadrant, is not a member of the United Federation of Planets. The planet, with a climate that is reminiscent of the PNW, has so much precipitation that the Ferengi language has 178 different words for rain. The Ferengi are a mostly self-serving people that prioritize the accumulation of wealth above all else. Their society strictly follows the business philosophies created by Grand Nagus Gint around 8000 BC. These philosophies, called the Rules of Acquisition, have been expanded over time to encompass 285 different aphorisms.
