Geocache Description:

GEOCACHING NIGHT IN EDMONTON

REFS

A referee is responsible for the general supervision of the game and can be identified by the red or orange armbands. The NHL currently employs four on-ice officials in each game—two referees and two linesmen.

When I was young, the big hockey game was always on TV on Saturday night starting at 6 pm right after the Bugs Bunny and Roadrunner show. Hockey Night in Canada was a part of our country and this is definitely a hockey town so why not put out a geoart series to celebrate our love for hockey!! Each cache represents a different letter of the alphabet or one of the numbers from 0 to 10. For some of the letters/numbers there were a bunch of hockey terms to pick from so sometimes it wasn’t an easy choice but I tried to pick some of the more interesting ones. Most of these caches are in the Belgravia, McKernan and Windsor neigbourhoods and also Mayfair Park but there are a few outliers as well. Good luck finding the caches and have fun!!

** NOTE: THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE POSTED COORDINATES **

Also, because this series is all about hockey, why not test your hockey knowledge. In order to determine the correct coordinates for this mystery cache, you will have to correctly solve the following question:

Who was the longest serving referee of all-time in the NHL?

1. Kerry Fraser - N 53 31.118 W 113 31.541

2. Ron Wicks - N 53 31.233 W 113 32.077

3. Andy Van Hellemond - N 53 31.554 W 113 32.040

4. Don Koharski - N 53 30.954 W 113 31.993
