Geocache Description:

A short multi-cache set in The Kill. There is some parking in nearby villages and some people do park on the road, but please be considerate.

This short multi-cache should be completable in around 15 minutes and has 1 virtual stage before the cache. This used to be two stages, but one of the points of information has sadly now gone

The Kill is a strange name for such a young woodland. It was named after part of the field used to plant the new woodland, and why that was called The Kill no-one knows. The Kill is part of Bedfordshire's Green Gateway project to create a woodland and green space between Wootton and Kempston. The Green Gateway consists of three areas of land, owned and managed by the Forest of Marston Vale.

The Kill lies to the south of Buttons Ramsey, where there are currently several caches to explore. The trees planted are a mixture of Oak, Ash, Field Maple, Silver Birch, Wild Cherry and others. On our tour we will explore the history behind some of the trees and of course find the cache.

Stage One - Posted Coordinates

The original location is not the cache location, but a notice board that you can get the following information from:

  • The Kill and Hoo Corner are comprised of A hectares of grassland
  • The Kill and Hoo Corner are comprised of B hectares of new woodland
  • Planted over the winter of CDDE/F
  • The scale on the map is GDm (approx)

The Cache

You now have enough information to solve the cache location, which can be done so using the following formula:

N BC° E.3EA’ W D° 3A.F3G’.

The cache is a small container with space for swag and TBs. There is a pencil in the cache and a couple of special swag items for the first few to find. Please be careful at the GZ, you shouldn't need to go beyond the given route to get to the cache as the ground is quite uneven there.

Cache placed with the kind permission from the Forest of Marston Vale

Congrats to Pumpkin67 on the FTF
