AR_Western Cattle Drive Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Eagle Scout 426:
Archived and Removed Today.

Maintenance check today and decided it was time to archive it.

The container has gone missing again and the new location has been removed yet again. Instead of moving it for the third time and replacing for the 5th time I have decided that it was time to go.

So this cache is done. Removed the container and the logbook.

I will post some statistics and an explanation of the solution soon.

Thanks for finding it and my other caches.

Geocache Description:

Update: This is most likely the 35th Augmented Geocache in the world?!!! And 4th in Texas.

Posted coordinates are fake.

The posted coordinates are at a very cool sculpture depicting a cattle drive.
The geocache is within 1000feet of the posted spot.

This cache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache. At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. If you have found this cache and would like to give feedback on your experience, please fill out this survey.

The full Geocaching guidelines for this experiment can be found here.

Remember that AR is a new technology. As such it might not always work smoothly when viewing an AR experience. There also might be issues if multiple people are attempting to view the same AR experience. So be patient with the experience and have fun.

To solve this puzzle you will need the following app for your compatible device. It works on both IOS devices or Android devices but has not been tested in other operating systems. Both versions are free and able to be used without an account.

Alert: While both apps are free to use without an account, you will have to download the app to be able to find this geocache. As the geocache owner, I ensure that this app is safe to download. It has not been checked by Geocaching HQ or by the reviewer. Download this app at your own risk.

Metaverse - AR Browser

Once you have the app downloaded, click explore, and then follow this link or scan this QR code.

Once you have followed the link or scanned the code, you will be transported to the Old West! And you are part of a cattle drive! Depending on how you respond, your experience will be a success with coordinates or failure. Good Luck and have fun.

Congrats ARKS for the First to Find.

The puzzle is completely solvable in the Augmented Reality environment and can be completed anywhere in the world. Completing the questions in AR will reveal the GPS coordinates and does not need a coordinate checker. The cache itself is a magnetic nano hidden somewhere in Dallas. Bring your own pen.

Be careful since the area always seems to be busy with people and has lots traffic nearby.

Do not post a picture of the final hiding spot (since that could give it away). Feel free to include other pictures (but not the coordinates).

You must sign the log to claim the find. No exceptions, and no excuses. Blank logs may be deleted without notice. Avoid the use of acronym only logs online.

Bonus Location: There is an Old-West Themed Art Mural located at N 32° 47.917 W 96° 47.100.
(It has nothing to do with this cache but is neat to look at and has the same theme as this AR.)

Photo Filter: Also, I made an optional and simple photo filter for the AR experience. Check out the photo gallery of images from the AR experience here.
