Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT hidden at the starting coordinates. See below for directions to the cache, as well as a trail map showing placement of all 7 Disney Magic caches and parking location.

This geocache is placed along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. It is a .37 of a mile walk from the published starting coordinates to the cache, but it is overall a scenic 1.5 miles each way from the parking coordinates. Please park in or near the designated parking area, located along Paradise Drive. You MAY NOT park at the Silverbrook Girl Scout Camp located to the east. It may look like a road on the map, but it's not and is a private drive.

This is a letterbox hybrid cache. Letterboxing is another outdoor activity in which people follow clues or a story (rather than just coordinates) to find a container and then put their personal stamp in the logbook and then stamp their own journal with the stamp from the cache.

A letterbox hybrid, like this one, is both a geocache and a letterbox. It can include both coordinates and clues to get you to the final location. Follow the instructions in the following paragraphs to be directed to the actual cache location. Contents include a stamp and stamp pad (do not take) for letterboxing, as well as a log book & swag for geocachers and letterboxers.

This geocache is the 6th of the seven caches in the series of DISNEY MAGIC, with this cache highlighting CINDERELLA.

Your Adventure Awaits

Park in or near the parking lot at N43 23.893 W88 12.657, which is the trailhead starting point for this segment of the Ice Age Trail.

1. From the parking coordinates, start going north and follow the yellow-marked Ice Age National Scenic Trail. It’s about a 1.2 mile walk from the parking lot along the trail to get to the “starting” coordinates of this letterbox hybrid geocache, but there are numerous geocaches along the way (including an earthcache and five other Disney Magic caches) that you likely may want to get first.

2. Your adventure begins at the elbow of the boardwalk/footbridge at N43 24.153 W88 13.076, which are the starting coordinates listed on the cache page. From here you’ll have about a .35 of a mile walk to the cache. If you could fly like Cinderella’s bird friends, it’s only .10 of a mile in a straight line, but please stay on the winding trail until directed.

3. Go N/NE on the boardwalk about 50 feet. You’ll come to a yellow sign.

4. Continue left NW at the sign for about 70 feet and you’ll pass up a bench. Well, you may not continue right away, if you rest for a while on the bench. Perhaps you’ll see some of Cinderella’s animal friends.

5. Continue N/NW on the trail, which slopes upward. Occasional yellow markers indicate that you’re on the Ice Age Trail. The trail continues both uphill and downhill, and at some points narrows to only three feet wide. On your left (west) is a steep upward slope, and on your right (east) is a steep downward slope into the gorge. This is one of the most beautiful views, but please stay on the trail as you’re walking on private land owned by the Girl Scouts. We have permission to hike the trail and to park at the Paradise Drive parking lot, but not to park at the nearby Girl Scout private camp.

6. About .14 of a mile from the bench the trail begins to make a U-shaped turn going west, then south, then southeast, before swinging west again. You’ll pass up another cache along the way (Tinkerbell), which you can get on the way back. If you do decide to find Tinkerbell on the way to Cinderella, you might be able to pick up some magical fairy dust there and fly the rest of the way to the Cinderella cache.

7. Eventually along the trail you’ll come to a 6 foot erratic (a huge boulder) at N43 24.181 W88 13.174. You’re almost there. Go W/SW on the trail about another 75 feet to the crest of the hill. On your left (south) you’ll see two Y-shaped fallen logs, both about 50 to 80 feet long. You’ll find Cinderella behind the intersection of those two logs, about 30 feet south of the path.

The Disney Movie

Perhaps the most celebrated of all the Disney classics, Cinderella is also known as one of Walt Disney's all-time favorite films. The 1950 animated film has enchanted generations with its spellbinding story, charming music, and endearing characters. The beloved fairy tale becomes pure Disney magic as beautiful and kind Cinderella shares her dreams of romance and a better life with her animal friends, including the lovable mice Gus and Jaq. When Cinderella's cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, Cinderella’s delightful Fairy Godmother appears! With a wave of her wondrous wand and a bouncy "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo," her Fairy Godmother transforms a simple pumpkin into a magical coach - and Cinderella's rags into a gorgeous gown. At the ball, Cinderella falls in love with Prince Charming, but must flee before the stroke of midnight breaks the spell! As is the case with Disney’s animated movies, the story finishes with a happy ending.
