1St Sandridge Scout and Guide Group sponsors this public Geocashe. This group was created 90 year ago and was the first group in the area, at that time on the lands of a local farm. With commanding views of the Hertfordshire countryside, the group offers traditional Scouting skills to about two hundred local boys and girls. Now along side Heartwood, a vast new forest of more than half a million trees, pockets of ancient woodland, wildflower meadows and fantastic wildlife spotting. It’s no surprise that the Woodland Trust's Heartwood Forest is one of our most popular destinations. Heartwood Forest’s 347-hectare (858-acre) site rises from what was once mainly agricultural land. It’s so big that it’s now the largest continuous new native forest in England; a place where everyone can find space, peace, wildlife and miles of beautiful woodland to explore.
