Fransie Meiring Traditional Cache

On Monday 11 June we lost an amazing Geocacher who was called to Heaven too soon and this cache is dedicated to him. Oom Fransie Meiring one part of FranMarie. This cache is placed under a palm tree overlooking Despatch and in the distance Uitenhage, where Oom Fransie grew up and spent most of his life. Oom Frans was everything a Geocacher should really be. Always keen to get out there and cache with every opportunity he got and without a second invitation, he was always willing to help others if they needed a PAF or advice, he got on with everybody and tried to attend every event if possible and he placed caches for the pleasure of his fellow Geocachers. Even when he was already very sick and weakening he insisted on attending the 2018 camp-out in Port Alfred and still went out to cache as hard as he could in the weeks up to his hospitalisation. Oom Frans will always be remembered as a very special man and he has left a big hole in our caching community in the Eastern Cape.
