This cache will bring you to a magical place in the George mountains. Apart from the two swings, you can also see some of the biggest tree ferns you will ever encounter.
Nobody is quite sure what the history is of these swings, or who placed them here. It is safe to say that they are known of for almost 30 years. When talking to the locals about the swings in the mountain, you get the same look as when you mention a unicorn sighting. Many locals believe it to be a myth. Yet, the place does exist. Follow the waypoints provided, and have yourself an awesome adventure.
The swings are used at your own risk.
On the section that you walk along the railway line, and cross through the tunnel, you must be very carefull, as the Outeniqua Powervan make use of this track twice a day. There is enough space inside the tunnel to keep out of it's way, should it approach while you walk through. I always first listen, and if I dont hear anything approaching, I will walk through quickly.
Access to this area is free, but it is recommended that you drive to the Witfontein Forest station to obtain a self issue permit for the day.
Because of the tree cover, the GPS signal is poor. The cache is hidden at the calibrated coordinates I got on my Garmin. It was placed in such a manner that the hint will be very usefull in locating it.
The hike should not take more that 3 hourse. Depending on how many times you swing though.
