Spy Gear: Platypus Fedora Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Blue Crow Expedition: This was a camouflaged pill bottle attached to a tree. That was never my favorite kind of hide, but it was a good choice for this area and I didn't mind having a few like this in the series for variety. The lid of the pill bottle was painted brown, which kind of looked like Perry's fedora, but that was always a coincidence. I painted many of my geocaches that same color.

This geocache held up well over the years. It even stayed mostly dry inside. This is another part of the greenway that changed dramatically over time. There were years when visitors had to push through dense brush to get to the hiding spot. When I collected the geocache today, the brush had been cut back so much that I could stroll right up to the hiding spot from the main path.

About the Spy Gear

In the cartoon television series Phineas and Ferb, Perry the Platypus lived a double life. At home he was the household pet of a suburban family, but every day he would sneak away to work as a secret agent and foil the plans of his nemesis, the evil scientist Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz. When Perry acted as a secret agent, he wore a brown fedora. It was a running joke that Dr. Doofenshmirtz didn't recognize Perry without his hat. Perry occasionally used this fact to his advantage.
