Geocache Description:

Permission granted by landowner, William Alwin, to place geocache.

Historic Name: Francis G. Hood House

Other Names: Andes House, Alwin House

Year Built: 1909

Architectural Style: Shingle

This 2.5 story Shingle Style House was constructed in 1909. It is irregular in plan with wood shingle walls and a woodshingled gable roof. The front elevation faces north and is asymmetrical in plan with a dominant front-gabled bay spanning most of the facade. The building is in great condition and retains a high degree of integrity. As a representative of the Shingle Style, the house displays all of the characteristic details typically associated with this extremely rare architectural style. An intensive survey report indicates that 2607 Riverside Avenue is the only Shingle Style house in the city, and likely within Marinette County. Another unique feature of the property is that it is the only residence on the entire block The house is now owned by William and Judy Alwin.

This cache hangs in a tree near the sidewalk and view of the house. Bring pencil to sign log. Good luck!
