Well, I don't now if there really is any gold, but the name Gold Hill would certainly make you wonder! This cache sits along the rounded summit of Gold Hill, just over 12,700 feet. The shortest route would be a steep but rather direct approach from Goose Lake, which can be reached via a jeep road. All other approaches are a little stiffer, with RT distance of 9+ miles and 3000+ feet of elevation gain.
Tread lightly in this fragile alpine environment, and enjoy superb views in all directions! If you're lucky, in addition to the views, you may be graced by the presence of bighorn sheep which do enjoy this area. Please place cache back nice and snug and secure in order to hopefully deter its theft by chipmunk, pica, or marmot.
