Geocache Description:

Home Among the Gum Trees 2  is a replacement for our second music cache and takes its name from a popular Aussie song written in 1974.   The writers Wally Johnson and Bob Brown offered the song as a replacement for 'God save the Queen' when the Government held a competition to find a new national anthem.  Not really surprising that it didn't win.

The song has become one of most frequently recorded Australian compositions of all time and is  a standard in Aussie folk music.  It has been covered by a variety of artisits including Bullamakanka and John Williamson.  It was used as the theme song for the television show 'Burke's Backyard', and was performed by John Williamson at Aussie wildlife expert and TV personality, Steve Irwins memorial service in 2006.

.......................

Gum trees provide shade, shelter and food for a variety of Aussie birds and animals, the best known of course is the Koala.  But gum trees have also been home to two popular little Gumnut babies called Snugglepot and Cuddlepie* since 1918.

Now these two little Aussies have outgrown their original home and after searching across the country for a suitable abode have now settled in Brisbane's beautiful leafy western suburbs. They have set up home in a spacious 4 bedder, among the gum trees of Karana Downs and have kindly agreed to be cache guardians for their new tiny boarder.

In search of this cache please treat their delicate home with care.  The boarder does not want to travel too far from his bed so be careful when extracting the log and tuck him back securely when you have finished.

There is no room here for a pen or trackables .
