Duvall-Rosier Football Field Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Troopbiz: I’m going to pull this one for a number of reasons, with the main one being the construction of a new cross country trail within feet of the final. The ammo can was found and recovered, however I feel there are better opportunities for caches on this area of campus.

WELCOME TO FAIRMONT STATE UNIVERSITY

Home of the Fighting Falcons

This cache is an official stop on the Fighting Falcons Geotrail. The FFGT is composed of 15 unique hides, located across the campus of Fairmont State University and showcases all it has to offer. Each cache is unique and ranges from traditionals to wherigos, and even includes a virtual! Whether this is your 1st or 1,000th find, the FFGT offers something for everyone!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dedicated in 1927, Duvall-Rosier Field was named for former President Joseph Rosier. In 2000, the name Duvall was added to honor Harold S. "Deacon" Duvall, FSU football coach from 1952-1971. Over the last several years, field turf, a state-of-the-art scoreboard and substantial grounds work has been added. During the football season, Duvall-Rosier Field comes alive with falcon pride. In the off-season, the facility is used for many different activities including Falcon Softball each spring. Fairmont State is a member of the NCAA Mountain East Conference. Varsity programs for men are offered in football, basketball, baseball, cross-country, golf, tennis and swimming. The intercollegiate athletic program for women includes tennis, golf, basketball, volleyball, swimming, softball, soccer, acrobatics & tumbling and cross-country.

This cache will take you to the athletic division of campus, and showcase an interesting statue. From here, you will have to use the signage around the statue to complete the field puzzle below. At the final location you will find a unique log book along with some sharpies; please only sign this "log book" and leave it in the container. The terrain for this cache is slightly higher due to some hills, but nothing a young child couldn't do. At the final keep an eye out for snakes, thorns, and poison ivy; all threats geocachers may face on any adventure. As with every cache, please replace all cache components back after you found it.
