[RO] Mănăstirea noastră are o istorie veche şi nouă, deopotrivă. O istorie veche, întrucât de începuturile sihăstriei de la Putna ne despart aproape 600 de ani. Din chiar vremea binecredinciosului domn Ştefan cel Mare şi Sfânt există o menţiune care vorbeşte despre momentul inaugural al vieţii de sihăstrie de aici. Nimic spectaculos, totuşi: un tătar botezat şi mai apoi călugărit în obştea Putnei sub numele de Atanasie se retrage în munţi pentru a-şi primeni cu bună cuviinţă haina sufletului. L-au urmat şi alţi monahi, care au construit chilii, o bisericuţă de lemn, apoi o biserică mai mare de piatră, cu hramul „Buna Vestire”. Mănăstirea Sihăstria Putnei cunoaşte şi o istorie mai nouă. Explicaţia? Între istoria mai veche şi cea nouă există o istorie dureroasă... După câteva secole de existenţă liniştită, ultimii ani ai veacului al XVIII-lea aduce încetarea vremelnică a lucrării rugăciunii în aceste locuri, stăpânirea habsburgică instalată în 1775 în Bucovina închizând acest aşezământ. În urmă a rămas doar pustiul şi, curând, aşezâmântul s-a transformat în ruine... Însă dorul după Dumnezeu este cea mai puternică formă de memorie, care se transmite din generaţie în generaţie. Şi, cum s-a întâmplat de atâtea ori în istoria Bisericii, locurile marcate de şederea şi rugăciunile sfinţilor au renăscut chiar şi din cenuşă. Aşa s-a întâmplat şi cu Sihăstria Putnei. În 1990 viaţa monahală se reia în vechea Sihăstrie şi, cu multă rugăciune, râvnă şi entuziasm tineresc, ruinele au fost transformate în biserici, chilii, ateliere. Obştea a cunoscut o creştere constantă, numărând în prezent 49 de monahi. Viaţa mănăstirii este chinovială (de obşte), părinţii şi fraţii mănăstirii petrecându-şi timpul zilei, după vechea rânduială, o parte în slujbă la biserică, o parte la diferite ascultări (munci) şi o parte pentru rugăciune privată şi odihnă.
[EN] Our monastery has an old and new history, alike. An old history, since the beginnings of the Putna shepherd split us nearly 600 years. From the time of the well-known gentleman Stephen the Great and Holy there is a mention that speaks of the inaugural moment of the life of sahistry here. Nothing spectacular, however: a baptized tattoo, and later a monk in Putna's village under the name of Athanasius, retreats into the mountains to appropriately render the coat of the soul. Other monks followed, who built cells, a wooden church, and then a larger stone church, dedicated to "Buna Vestire". The Sihastria Monastery of Putna also has a new history. Explication? Between past and new history there is a painful history ... After several centuries of peaceful existence, the last years of the eighteenth century brought forth the temporal cessation of the prayer work in these places, the Habsburg rule installed in 1775 in Bukovina closing this settlement. Only the wilderness remained behind, and soon the settlement became ruins ... But the longing for God is the most powerful form of memory that is transmitted from generation to generation. And, as has happened so many times in the history of the Church, the places marked by the saints' prayers and prayers have reborn even from the ashes. This is how it happened with the Nest of Putna. In 1990 the monastic life resumed in the old Sihastria and, with much prayer, zeal and youthful enthusiasm, the ruins were transformed into churches, cells, workshops. The population has grown steadily, currently counting 49 monks. The life of the monastery is quintile, the parents and the brothers of the monastery spending their daytime, after the old order, part in church service, part in various obedience and part for private prayer and rest.
