Welcome to historic downtown Mt. Carroll, Illinois!
This is a field puzzle that I hope you'll enjoy. The posted coords will bring you to a towering Civil War monument located on the grounds of the Carroll County Courthouse and Jail. Surrounding the monument are a couple cannons and stack of cannon balls. Plenty of street side parking is available.
To obtain the coords to the final location where the geocache is hidden, pay attention to those cannons.
On the rear of the large cannon, there is a 4 digit weight in LBS stamped there. Take that number and subtract 2823. Use your answer to fill in the North coords - N 42 05.XXX
Add up all the numbers individually on the mouth of the short cannon and multiply your answer by 13.9. Drop any decimals and use your answer to fill in the West coords - W 089 58.XXX
The final should be a quick park and grab hide. Use the checker at the bottom of this page to verify your coords if you so desire. Use stealth at the final, and good luck!
