Geocache Description:


"Aesculus  hippocastanum" -horse  chestnut, commonly known as conker tree. Is a large tree that can grow to about 40m. tall. The leaves are opposite and palmately compound with 5-7 leaflets. The flowers are usually white with a yellow or pink blotch. Mostly known by his conversation that are hiding in his spiky capsules. The tree is native for the Balkans but is spread all over the world .During the First World War horse-chestnuts been used as a source of starch-acetone, used by the military. Now unfortunately all the trees in Europe are infected by the tiny moth "cameraria ohridella"- brown spots can be wisible on the leaves. This is the part of the set of nine caches dedicated to the special trees , plants and habitats from the Ferrybank.
