Geocache Description:

Visitors to the Mallacoota area shouldn't miss the must see Mallacoota WWII Bunker Museum - https://www.mallacootabunker.com.au/about-the-bunker.  So much history in such a small out of the way town.
Cachers will be happy to find a cache GCJ5XC Bunker (multi) on this site.

We were aware of a second bunker in the area further inland and while it is not preserved like the Bunker Museum - it does have an interesting history.
Cachers should also seak out the cache GC1AZ12 Retired Radio Operator.  A little off the beaten track but well worth the effort.

In our hunt around the local area we discovered a third bunker - Bunker 23.  It is located between the other two bunkers and is not in very good condition. Someone more agile than me has got up on top and inside to check out the damaged and found it graffitied.

Th Parking Point is one way to access this cache - it is on the bumpy track directly behind the airport fence. You can stop the car here (not much traffic) and walk across the scrub (watching for the wiggly sticks).

4WD - You can also drive right up to the cache, if you follow the signs to the Gun Club and then turn off the track that runs down the tree line.

Be careful of the wild life in the summer.
Please make sure you rehide the cache well as I suspect the area is frequented by kids.  Also the Jorgo_Crew are not locals, but frequent visitors.  If our cache is damaged we will need to disable it until our next visit.smiley
