Geocache Description:

A Letterbox Hybrid hidden within 250 feet of the posted coordinates. Download the pictures before you seek the cache, because there is no cellphone service at the site. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!

Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson is one of the United Kingdom’s military heroes. A captain at age 20, he is known for victories at St. Vincent, the Battle of Copenhagen, and the Battle of the Nile during the Napoleonic wars. His greatest victory was the Battle of Trafalgar, which saved the United Kingdom from French invasion.

There is a monument to Nelson at Trafalgar Square in London which complements the Marble Wellington Arch. On Calton Hill in Edinburgh, Scotland, the monument is shaped like a spyglass on it’s end.

One of Nelsons famous quotes is “never mind maneuvers, go straight at them.” While this is my personal means of geocaching it is not the way to find this letterbox.

At the posted coordinates, you will be looking at a meadow to the north, with a slight raised area to the southeast that contains multiple small rock formations. Go due east to the slight rise, then work south. You are looking for a group of three large (8-10 foot) rocks that are 3-4 feet tall. The letterbox is hidden at the center apex of these three rock formations. GPS coordinates are very poor because of the trees but it is approximately 130 degrees from the posted coordinates. Use the spoiler pictures.

This is a letterbox hybrid. In addition to the normal logbook and trade items, it also contains a letterbox stamp, inkpad, and stamp book. Please do not remove the stamp, ink pad, or stamp book. THEY ARE NOT TRADE ITEMS!

There is a letter hidden inside the cache in the logbook: make note of it for the upcoming Scottish Sorcerer.

A basic letterbox hybrid should consists of the following (this is my criteria not that of Groundspeak):
1. a stamp
2. a distinct pad of high quality art paper for collecting stamps, that is distinct from the log book, and is large enough to leave impressions from your own personal stamp.
3. An inkpad. Some geocachers omit this because it can dry out, but water can be added to the pad if needed.
A "true" letterbox would also have the following elements:
4. a hand carved stamp
5. require route finding addition to GPS coordinates: in other words the GPS leads you to the starting or intermediate point, but then a description is necessary to find the final container.
6. Be listed on letterboxing.org or similar listing.

This is a true letterbox hybrid, having all of the above components.
