[RO] Străjuind înspre nord oraşul, pe un deal înalt şi vizibil din oricare punct al Blajului, se află un monument stilizat reprezentând evenimentele de la 1848 când, pe durata adunării naţionale, aici a staţionat o legiune de moţi care, în frunte cu Avram Iancu au supravegheat Câmpia Libertăţii.
Crucea lui Iancu iniţială, înalta de patru metri, a fost ridicat în semn de recunoştinţă faţă de fapta filantropică a episcopului Ioan Bob, care în timpul foametei din 1815 a ars hârtiile datornicilor săi de la sate, cărora le împrumutase bucate. De acel monument se leagă şi momentul de la 1848, de altfel de la acea dată nimeni nu-i va spune altfel decât „Crucea lui Iancu”, iar dealul pe care se află „Dealul Crucii”.
Crucea a fost aruncată în aer în noiembrie 1908. Aceasta a fost refăcută apoi de Ioan Micu Moldovan în anul 1915 după modelul original. Fragmente din aceasta sunt păstrate în prezent la Muzeul de Istorie „Augustin Bunea” din Blaj.
Vizitatorii acestui loc, au parte de o panoramică frumoasă asupra orașului, acesta fiind vizibil și pe timp de noapte.
[EN] Graving the city to the north, on a high and visible hill from any point in Blaj, there is a stylized monument representing the events of 1848 when, during the national assembly, there stood a legion of motits which, headed by Avram Iancu, Freedom Plain.
Iancu's cross of four meters high was erected as a sign of gratitude for the philanthropic deed of Bishop Ioan Bob, who during the famine of 1815 burned the papers of his village debtors, whom he had loaned to them. From this monument is also connected the moment of 1848, since then no one will tell him anything other than the "Cross of Iancu", and the hill on which is the "Dealul Crucii".
The cross was thrown into the air in November 1908. It was then restored by Ioan Micu Moldovan in 1915 according to the original model. Fragments of it are preserved at the "Augustin Bunea" History Museum in Blaj.
Visitors to this place have a beautiful panorama of the city, visible at night.
