Šonov leží asi 5 km od města Broumov v Broumovské Katlině na úpatí Javorských hor, javorových hor, které leží přibližně 880 metrů nad mořem. De Broumovsko je chráněnou přírodní rezervací od roku 1991. Přírodní rezervace Broumovské steny, vzdálená asi 12 kilometrů od této lokality, je 12 kilometrů dlouhá, nepravidelná a malebná pohoří skalních útvarů podél drsných kaňonů.
Celá tato oblast má rozšířenou síť značených cest, různou délkou a obtížemi, s úžasnými panoramatickými panoramiky. Za dobrých povětrnostních podmínek je dokonce i Obří pohoří vidět u Sněžky, nejvyšší vrchol v České republice.
Podél vrcholů 25 km dlouhého úseku Javorí hory je pochod. Tato cesta projde tímto místem. Poté pokračuje podél státní hranice krásnými výhledy do české i polské strany.
Pískovcové skalní města v "Národní rezervaci Ardspachu" u Teplic nad Metují a Dolní Ardspach jsou bezpochyby mezi nejkrásnějšími místy v České republice. Tyto objekty jsou asi 15 kilometrů odtud. Velké skalní labyrinty, procházející hlubokými kaňony a výhledy z vrcholků útesů vás čekají na vaší cestě přes pečlivě vyznačené stezky.
Broumov, Teplice a Policie jsou zajímavá města s množstvím možností nakupovat nebo chodit na večeři.

Sonov ligt ongeveer 5 kilometer van de stad Broumov in het Broumovska Kotlina (het Broumover Keteldal) aan de voet van het Javori Hory (Esdoorngebergte) wat ongeveer 880 meter boven de zeespiegel ligt. De regio Broumov is sinds 1991 een beschermd natuurgebied. Het beschermde natuurgebied “De Broumovské Steny” wat ongeveer 12 kilometer van deze locatie afligt, is een 12 kilometer lange onregelmatige en pittoreske bergrug met rotsformaties langs ruwe kloven. Dit gebied heeft een net van toeristische wandelroutes die variëren in lengte en zwaarte, met schitterende uitzichten. Bij goed weer is zelfs het Reuzengebergte te zien met de Snezka (de Sneeuwkop), de hoogste berg in Tsjechië.
Over de toppen van de 25 kilometer lange Javori Hory (Esdoorngebergte) loopt een wandelroute, deze route loopt hierlangs. De route loopt vervolgens langs de staatsgrens met vergezichten aan de Tsjechische en Poolse zijde.
De zandstenen rotssteden in het “Nationaal Reservaat Adrspach” bij Teplice nad Metuji en Dolni Adrspach zijn zonder twijfel één van de mooiste plekken in de Tsjechische Republiek. Deze bezienswaardigheden liggen ongeveer 15 kilometer hiervandaan. Grote rots labyrinten, doorgangen door diepe kloven en vergezichten van de rotswanden wachten op u, op uw tocht over zorgvuldig gemarkeerde routes.
Broumov, Tepelice en Police zijn leuke stadjes met mogelijkheden om te winkelen en uit eten te gaan.

Šonov lies about two miles (5 kilometres) from the town of Broumov in the Broumovska Katlina (The Cirque of Broumov) at the foot of the Javori Hory, the Maple Mountains, that lie approximately 880 metres above sea level. De Broumov Region is a Protected Nature Reserve since 1991. The Nature Reserve of “Broumovské Steny”, about 12 kilometres from this location, is a 12 kilometres long, irregular and picturesque mountain range of rock formations alongside rough canyons.
This entire region has an extended network of marked footpaths, varying in length, and difficulty, with awesome panoramas. In good weather conditions, even The Giants Mountain Range is visible with the Snezka (Snow Head), the highest peak in the Czech Republic.
Along the very tops of the 25 kilometres stretch of the Javori Hory (The Maple Mountain Range) is a footpath. This path passes this place. Then it continues along the state borders with beautiful vistas into both the Czech and Polish sides.
The Sandstone Rock Cities in the “National Reserve of Ardspach” near Teplice nad Metuji and Dolni Ardspach are without doubt among the most beautiful places in the Czech Republic. These objects of interest are about 15 kilometres away from here. Large rock labyrinths, passes through deep canyons and vistas from the tops of the cliffs await you on your journey across carefully marked footpaths.
Broumov, Teplice and Police are interesting towns with lots of possibilities to go shopping or to go out for dinner.
