Having received the notification that International Geocaching Day 2018 is on Saturday, August 18th, we thought we might host our first ever event linking it to our planned departure on the 25th for a 3 week trip to Alaska and British Columbia , thus the Call of the Wild:
Come and swap stories, trackables or just chat with other cachers for a while, then perhaps head out and do some caching. You never know what might get published***. Even if you just want to come and have a coffee, this event will get you the International Geocaching Day Souvenir.
No one is obliged to purchase a drink or a cake but 10:30 is the opening time on a Saturday for the Toad Hall Tea Room which also does great coffee, sandwiches and cakes.
We will arrange to have a logbook for the event available from 10:30am until, at minimum, 11:30am but feel free to stay on afterwards if you wish, and we will stay on for a while if there are any who need to arrive a bit late and have given forewarning in their "I Will Attend" log.
If the weather is fine we will be outside in the garden. If not, we will be in the bar area.
If possible, please post a Will Attend log by the 16th if you plan to come so we can give them an idea of expected numbers.
*** note added Tuesday August 7th: there will be a cache series published to link to, but not directly compete with, this event!
