Geocache Description:

A supercell is a unique type of thunderstorm that has a deep and persistent rotating upward current of air (diagram at bottom). Supercells may result in hail or tornadoes. Overall, they are the least common type of thunderstorm and have the potential to be the most severe.

As a meteorologist I wanted to create a cache with a weather theme. Nearby to the trail is the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction where many national forecasts are made for weather, climate, ocean, etc. Many environmental monitoring and analysis activities are performed here as well.

The original contents of this cache has a FTF award, trackable, and other weather related swag. Hope you enjoy the cache as well as a great walk or run along this trail!
