I had a wonderful time exploring this area in search of a hide location. As I started on my journey, I needed to bushwack, but then I found some trails. Walking along the creek, with its gently flowing water reminded me of how many gorgeous locations surround us. Boy was I in for a treat when the underbrush cleared and ahead of me was a breathtaking sight. The trail diverged into 3 separate directions; a low, middle, and high road. To one side, the trail hugged the shoreline, leading to a small, sandy beach. Another provided a commanding 360 degree view of the area. Yet another brought me to an awe inspiring cliff face that was impressive, yet daunting in its composure. I found that all three eventually took me to what was a perfect location for a hide. I was perched high above the water, on the far side of the cliff. I was glad to find myself near the bottom, for trying to get to this location from above would've been extremely dangerous. At ground zero, I found what were remnants of a drilled shaft on the wall where miners likely blasted apart the hill side generations ago, possibly to harvest the surrounding limestone. Once I placed the container in its hiding spot, covering it liberally with native materials, I happily retreated from whence I came, continuing to enjoy the journey.
You are surprisingly on the City of New Castle property for this hide, though you'd never guess it. Wear orange during hunting season. Avoid the area if the creek is flooded. If adventurous, consider crossing the creek from the other side during drier parts of the season. Lastly, DO NOT APPROACH THIS FROM ABOVE! Stay down by the creek for the majority of your journey.
