Geocaching HQ Admin: From June 06, 2018 until March 06, 2019, Geocaching HQ conducted an Augmented Reality (AR) experiment. During that time, cache owners were allowed to submit Mystery Caches that required the finder to download and use an AR app to find the cache. The goal of the experiment was to see how the geocaching community would use AR technology. Cache owners placed more than 600 AR caches around the world!

Unfortunately, the AR apps which met HQ’s requirements for the experiment have been or are currently in the process of being discontinued. As a result, it is currently not possible for finders to have the AR experience that was originally intended. Therefore, HQ has decided to archive all active AR caches placed during the experiment period. We are respectfully requesting that all AR cache owners please remove the cache container and contents as soon as possible.

As technology evolves, we look forward to seeing how Augmented Reality might have future applications for geocaching. Thank you to all cache owners who participated in the experiment!

This cache is a part of the Geocaching experiment of AR(Augmented Reality) caches.

Metaverse ALERT!
Metaverse is officially on Life Support! Even though Gometa.io has not taken the servers down yet, the Metaverse Experience is not working for this cache anymore. And I am unable to log into the studio to edit or create a new Experience.

GOOD NEWS!
Seeing how this is now the second time an AR app provider has quit supporting their AR experience divisions, I decided to build my own AR hosting server. So this AR experience is now running on my AR Experience Hosting Server. The best part is that you do not have to install any additional apps on your mobile device!

How to use the TALK2AZS AR EXPERIENCE WEB APP
This web app requires you to use your Android or Apple web browser and device camera to scan QR codes. Make sure your web browser is enabled to run JavaScript. Apple tends to have Javascript disabled by default, so check your Apple web browsers for this.

Now all you have to do is open your camera app to scan the QR codes. The AR Experience should open up in your web browser. If not, just follow your on screen instructions.

To test your device, follow these instructions.
Below is a QR code you can scan with your device's camera, which will launch a TEST Experience to see if your device is configured properly.



CACHE INSTRUCTIONS
The cache page gives you 2 parking options. One parking area is located inside Stone Mountain Park, but you will either need an annual parking pass or pay the 1 day parking fee at the gate. The other parking area is located in the city of Stone Mountain that is free and will only cost you a short hike down the Path Foundation Trail into Stone Mountain Park and then to the posted coordinates.

You will be obtaining the final cache coordinates at the map that is located in a sheltered kiosk at the posted coordinates, and can only be obtained by using the TALK2AZS AR EXPERIENCE web app via your web browser on your mobile device. Once you reach the posted coordinates, launch your device Camera App, scan the QR code shown below. NOTE: Use either a second mobile device to display this cache page or print the image below and take it with you on this cache hunt. After you scan the QR code, your web browser should open and connect to the experience automatically. If it did not open, just follow the instructions on your screen. The AR Experience can only be played at the posted coordinates on this cache page.
