Historic Oakdale Cemetery
Oakdale started out as a family Cemetery on the Ferry family farm in 1847. At the same time an adjoining farm owned by the Starr family started burring family members at the back of their property which adjoined the Ferry plot. The two families decided to take those adjoining plots and unite the property to form a burying ground for their families as well as for others in the community who were in need of a place to bury family members. In August 1849 this plot was conveyed by deed. As organization was formed to oversee the Cemetery. The iron fence along the front of the Cemetery was built in 1930.
