Geocache Description:

Welcome to Celtic Shores Coastal Trail! We have been waiting for you! The 92-km Celtic Shores Coastal Trail stretches from Port Hastings to Inverness on the west coast of beautiful Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Explore the best of Canada’s seacoast as you journey along the trail where awe-inspiring natural beauty is matched by the vibrant celtic culture of our region. This exceptional trail system meanders along the coast providing first-class trail experiences for bikers, hikers, runners, quadders, skiers, snowmobilers and horse-back riders.

These caches are here to help you locate and identify the former railway stations along the former Port Hastings to Inverness railway line, stations where the steam engine "The Judique Flyer"  would stop on a regular basis.

Maryvale Station was a major product transfer location, with a cannery at MacKey point (road to the North West) the supply station for Beaton's Store, and Beaton's Blacksmith shop (road to the North East), which became Beaton's Garage with the dawn of automobiles and the tractor. Take a drive up Maryvale Station Road and you'll find Beaton's Store, vacant at the corner of Maryvale Station Road and Route 19, beuatifully restored, an amazing building.  Will it ever open again is anyone guess, someone put alot of money into fixing it up, I hope it becomes something the former owners would be proud of. Please bring own writing tool
