Located along the beautiful Upper Nestucca access road, that follows along the river from the dam all the way down to hwy 101 to the city of Hebo ( once the road is repaired in 2019 ) until then, you must hike 3/4 mi. from the gate to the geozone. Please do not block the gate, ( ODOT will tow it) park along the gravel road that heads uphill to the east of the gate.
We camped at Fan creek camp ground right by the gate, and got to watch a heavy haul semi, hauling a D9 Caterpillar Dozer on it get turned around there, as he did not believe the signs that say " road closed ahead" It took Him 2 hours, but they got it turned around, thus the name of the hide.
