Geocache Description:

The bizarre green building in Art Nouveau style that you will see on the southern bank of the channel is the famous summer cottage of E. Hauswald, mostly known as the house of Irene Adler from the soviet film adaptation of Sherlock Holmes stories. Built in 1898 as a fashionable villa, this house after revolution was used as an orphanage, then as workers' sanatorium and scenery for movies. For about 20 years the cottage was abandoned, and its wooden parts were severely damaged by rot and mold. The city authorities almost ordered to demolish the house before it knocks down... But not so long ago the restoration works started finally.  So let's keep an eye on its further fate...

Attention! Cache availability depends of wind strength and direction: by strong west and high water the approach may be flooded. Check the forecast!
