Enjoy a short walk in a Wausau Nature Preserve followed by a big climb.
This cache is placed in what seems to be a pretty quiet nature preserve in Wausau, WI. The sign by the parking area says it is "Paff Woods Nature Preserve." It is located near Hawthorn Hills Elementary School. If you park at the designated parking area, this cache will be a very short walk on a nice nature trail. You would only have to go off the trail for under 100 feet in order to get to the cache. I recommend not bushwhacking because it is not necessary. Once you locate the cache area, you will need to have the climber of your group go get the cache. I'm not sure how long this location will last since it is hidden in a dead tree. However, it has been in a similar state for over 2 years now. My ten-year-old can get there herself one way, but smaller kids should probably be given a boost by an adult instead of climbing for this one. There are a couple ways to access the cache that vary in safety. If you don't have any climbers in the group, a small ladder may help you once you reach ground zero. The cache is a small camouflaged vitamin container with a log in a plastic bag inside it. There are some $10 off coupons for new clients at Now and Zen Massage in Wausau, several bouncy balls, and a few other kid's trinkets in the cache to start with. Have fun and be safe.
