Hoone on iseloomulik näide 19. sajandi II poole historisistlikust arhitektuurist. Spetsiaalselt haiglehooneks ehitatud antud stiili esindava puuhoonena on see hoone Eestis üsna haruldane näide ning tulenevalt sellest on tänaseks kultuurimälestis. Väidetavalt hoones kummitab. Aare on väike tabletide plastpurk.
[ENG] Tartu old psychiatric hospital, located at the end of Staadioni street, was opened in 1878. The founder and the first director of the hospital was Eduard Georg von Wahl, a former medical student who became a professor after his studies. This institution was specialized in the treatment of serious mental disorders such as clinical depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The building is a typical example of 19th centuries historicist architecture and it was designed as a psychiatric hospital from the start. Buildings like this one, that were built for medical purposes and have survived from that era, are quite rare in Estonia and because of this, the building is currently under heritage protection. Supposedly the building is haunted. The cache is a small plastic medicine jar.
