Here you will find the tombstone of 'Samuel Stewart' an early settler of Dalby who died in 1851 at age 29. Sweart ran Dalby's first hotel located here on the banks of Myall Creek known in his time as the "Travellers Inn". It was a basic slab hut that served passing stockmen. After his passing it became known as "The Plough Inn", its new owners introduced the Plough Inn Cup, an annual horse race still held in Dalby today at the event currently known as the Saint Races - this race is even older than the Melbourne Cup!
