Geocache Description:

WARNING: You are walking on a cliff at your own risk, so be careful !!
A beautiful place to make (romantic) pictures, the best moment is during sunset.
At some times during the day their might be a fisherman sitting here, so be stealthy.
I put the difficulty higher (from 1,5 to 2,5) because it was hidden very well, said by the first cachers looking for it

On our stay here during the summer season of 2018, we discovered this place passing by.
We decided to make a stop here to have a look and take some very nice pictures, and every time you come here you find something new.

The view you are getting from this place is just amazing, you can see the lovely Karteros beach on the west side, some beautiful cliffs on the East side, an amazing sea where the sun will go down in. you can spot planes here who are landing and departing. And probably the most beautiful, you can see Dia Island right in front of you.

Mythology

Dia Island was created by Zeus. After looking down to the island where he was born and raised from his throne on Mount Olympus, he saw the Cretans chasing his favourite goats, the Kri-Kri. The same goats that were birthed by Amalthia, who nurtured Zeus as he was hiding from his father in the cave of Diktaion Andron.
He was so mad about it and he decided to kill them all. So, he blew a lightning in the sea and a giant monster emerged. Then, Poseidon, the god of the sea, reminded him of the protection that Kourites provided him as an infant and as a result Zeus decided to throw two rusks to the monster and then with a lightning he turned the monster into stone while the two risks was turned into islands and in this way Dia, Paximadi and Petalidi were created.

As seen from Heraklion port, Dia Island has the shape of a lying dragon, therefor the name Dia, which means dragon.

We would love to see a lot of pictures of this place, especially romantic ones of couples, playing with the shades of the sunset.
