La Torre di BRAHMA, a volte chiamata anche Torre di HANOI o di LUCAS, e' un rompicapo matematico composto da tre paletti e un certo numero di dischi di grandezza decrescente, che devono essere spostati, secondo regole precise, da una paletto INIZIALE a uno FINALE.

Il gioco inizia con tutti i dischi incolonnati su un paletto in ordine decrescente, in modo da formare un cono. Lo scopo del gioco e' portare tutti i dischi sul paletto finale, potendo spostare solo un disco alla volta e potendo mettere un disco solo su un altro disco piu' grande, mai su uno piu' piccolo. Il paletto centrale o INTERMEDIO serve come area di appoggio.

Esiste una precisa formula matematica che identifica il numero minimo di mosse necessarie in funzione del numero dei dischi da spostare:

2^d-1

dove d è il numero dei dischi. Ad esempio con QUATTRO DISCHI il numero minimo di mosse è: 2⁴ -1 = 15;

oppure con 6 dischi, come in figura, il numero diventa 63 !!

Quindi il numero di mosse aumenta in modo esponenziale coll'aumentare del numero dei dischi. Una antica leggenda racconta che in un tempio Indu' alcuni monaci sono costantemente impegnati a spostare su tre colonne di diamante, 64 dischi d'oro secondo le regole della Torre di BRAHMA e che quando avranno terminato arrivera' la FINE DEL MONDO. Non c'e' da preoccuparsi pero': anche se i monaci fossero velocissimi e impiegassero un solo secondo per ogni mossa, per spostare i 64 dischi imnpiegheranno circa 584 MILIARDI DI ANNI !!!

Noi invece ci limiteremo a giocare con TRE o QUATTRO dischi (a voi la scelta). All'inizio i DISCHI sono impilati nella zona START. A voi il compito di spostarli uno alla volta e ricostruire la pila nella zona FINAL. La zona INTERMEDIA invece vi servira' come area di appoggio temporaneo.

Solo se raggiungerete l'obiettivo, vi verranno svelate le COORDINATE FINALI della cache. Altri dettagli vi verranno forniti direttamente dalla cartuccia.

The Tower of BRAHMA, sometimes also called Tower of HANOI or LUCAS, is a mathematical puzzle composed of three poles and a certain number of discs of decreasing size, which must be moved, according to precise rules, from an INITIAL pole to one THE FINAL.

The game starts with all the discs on a stake in descending order, so as to form a cone. The aim of the game is to bring all the discs onto the final stake, being able to move only one disc at a time and being able to put only one disc on another larger disc, never on a smaller one. The central or INTERMEDIATE post serves as a support area.

There is a precise mathematical formula that identifies the minimum number of moves needed depending on the number of disks to be moved

So the number of moves increases exponentially with increasing number of disks. An ancient legend tells that in a Hindu temple some monks are constantly busy moving on three diamond columns, 64 gold discs according to the rules of the Tower of BRAHMA and that when they have finished the END OF THE WORLD will arrive. There is no need to worry, though: even if the monks were very fast and took only one second for each move, they would spend about 584 BILLION YEARS to move the 64 discs !!!

Instead we will just play with THREE or FOUR discs (the choice is yours). At first the DISCS are stacked in the START zone. It is up to you to move them one at a time and rebuild the pile in the FINAL area. The INTERMEDIATE area instead will serve you as a temporary support area.

Only if you reach the goal, the FINAL COORDINATES of the cache will be revealed. Other details will be provided directly from the cartridge.
