Douglas County Wildlife Area Douglas County Wildlife Area is Located between Solon Springs and Gordon in Douglas County. The property is approximately 4,005 acres (994 owned, 3,011 leased from Douglas County) of pine barrens.    Asclepias tuberosa -It is commonly known as butterfly weed because of the butterflies that are attracted to the plant by its color and its copious production of nectar. It is also the larval food plant of the queen and monarch butterflies. Hummingbirds, bees and other insects are also attracted.   Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager.
