Geocache Description:

A quiet road side cache between two lovely villages, but please keep an eye on little ones and geohounds. Not really a drive by, as there is no adjacent parking, although there is abundant parking nearby. This geocache can be combined with the other caches in the area.

Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket are two of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages, lying at the foot of the Northern Fells and just inside the Lake District National Park. Their timeless character has been preserved as a conservation area where ponies, sheep, cattle and even ducks roam freely.

Locally there are lots of amenities and picturesque walks of all standards; from easy strolls along the river side or around the villages, to the more strenuous nearby mountains of High Pike or Carrock Fell.

This Geocache was placed with the kind permission of the ‘Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket Parish Council’. The container unscrews to open.

I am a massive rock music fan and aim to give clues to each of my caches with reference to one of my favourite bands: Blue Öyster Cult are an American rock band that were formed in New York in 1967. They have been significantly influential in the realm of rock music, leading them to being referred to as “the thinking man’s heavy metal band” due to their often cryptic lyrics, literate songwriting, and links to famous authors. Blending their psychedelic roots with, science fiction, the occult, fantasy, poetry and a heavy sound, the band’s music videos received heavy rotation on MTV when it premiered in 1981, cementing their contribution to the development and success of this artistic format. Blue Öyster Cult have sold 24 million records worldwide and are still performing to this day.
