Geocache Description:

The cache is a 35mm film pot placed at ground level.

The co-ordinates are a short way west of the location of the underground Royal Observer Corp Monitoring Post / bunker at Lewes.
This is the bunker at which I was posted one day most weeks and for many a Bank Holiday weekend during the 1970's.

Unlike the ROC post at Cuckfield (visit link) , this post is not open for public viewings.
You can also get an idea of what it looks like by watching the two short video clips that can be seen by searching for "TOCSIN BANG - The Cold War Story of the Royal Observer Corps" and "Sentinels of Britain - The Wartime Story of The Royal Observer Corps".

I was very pleased to see that two of my old Lewes Post colleagues, Denise and Philip, appear in the clips.

It is also possible to see a mock-up of a Royal Observer Corp Post at Newhaven Fort; pay to enter.
I believe the display uses the old equipment from the Lewes Post. It used to show the original keys and locks that were used to secure the hatch down to the bunker / Monitoring Room - for which I still have a key.

There is road-side parking at the bottom of the private road that leads up to cache.
