Medelpads landskapsfågel är Mindre korsnäbb.

Medelpads landskapsfågel heter Mindre korsnäbb eller Loxia curvirostra. Den tillhör familjen Finkar och häckar över stora delar av det norra halvklotet, helst i barrskog. Namnet har den fått på grund av den något ovanliga näbben som har korsande näbb-spetsar, som är anpassade för att kunna plocka ut frön ur kottar och andra frukter. Korsnäbbarna är orange-röda om de är hanar och gulgröna om de är honor. Storleksmässigt blir de ungefär 16 cm och väger runt 40 gram.

The Latin word for this little odd bird is Loxia curvirostra and it has a special developed beak, so that it can reach into cones from the Fir-tree (here it is again, that firtree). The beak has crossing tips, it looks really weird, but suits these birds well so that they can reach into those fir-tree cones and eat the seeds. This family of birds lives over great parts of the Northern hemisphere. They grow to be about 16cm long, and weigh in at about 40g. The male is usually red/orange and the female is yellow/green.
