In the south side of Jaffa there are three neighborhoods that are named after orchards: Dakea al dulak, Abu-Saif, and Jaffa Dalet. The latter is almost a Kibbutz in the heart of a city.
The end of the 19th century and the beginning of the twentieth were the golden age of the citrus groves. The orchards were replaced by housing structure built during the 1950-1960. These were built in favor of suitable housing solution for Jew who settled in the abandoned and dilapidated houses of the old city and Ajami. After the war of 1948, the orchard were located on the eastern side of Jerusalem Boulevard.
