Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Howard County Soccer Series at Troy Hill Park

I'm a soccer mom, through and through. I play soccer, my kids play soccer and for many years I spent every weekend and all weekend at soccer fields up and down this part of the east coast, especially when one of my sons was playing premier level soccer. I know that soccer parents have to get their players to the fields up to an hour early for warm-ups and such. I used to spend that hour either walking, jogging, talking with the other parents, entertaining younger siblings or if it was really cold, sitting in the car reading a book. I wish I was geocaching during that time, because I visited lots of parks in many different states and would have loved to spent that time grabbing caches also.

This is a very simple puzzle and soccer fans should easily guess the name of this player.

I love watching the US National Teams play and rooting for the USA.

One of my favorite US players to watch is an American retired soccer midfielder, two-time FIFA World Cup champion and Olympic gold medalist. This midfielder played for the United States national soccer team from 1987–2004 finishing their international career with 271 caps and served as the team's captain from 2000–2004 as well as the co-captain from 1991–2000. In 1997, this player was the first American and first woman to receive the FIFA Fair Play Award. This player also is the author of Choose to Matter: Being Courageously and Fabulously YOU and appeared in the HBO documentary Dare to Dream.

Furthermore during college was a four-time NSCAA All-American at Stanford University and finished their collegiate career with 52 goals, 32 assists and 136 points. Additionally was named the 1991 Soccer America Player of the Year and the 1989 Soccer America Freshman of the Year and was a two-time finalist for the Hermann Trophy in 1991 and 1992. This midfielder played in four FIFA World Cup tournaments, winning two FIFA World Cups—in 1991 and 1999. And played in three Summer Olympic Games, winning an Olympic Gold Medal in 1996, Silver in 2000, and Gold again in 2004.

This retired player has served as an in-studio analyst for ABC, ESPN and ESPN2's coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 2008, and has provided on-air commentary and analysis during United States Women's National Team matches since then. And has also co-anchored ABC and ESPN telecasts of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2007 season of Major League Soccer, including the MLS Cup.
