Church Information:
St Peter's Church, Swainsthorpe was built in the Late Saxon period and has an octagonal shaped tower.
It has four bells although only one is used today.
Two plaques are of particular interest in the church. The first is near the south door and records the gift of Benjamin Bennett of £200 to provide bread to the poor in the winter months. The second remembers Gilbert Havers, who died in 1628, at the age of 87, having lived during the reigns of six different monarchs: Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary I, Elizabeth I, James I and Charles I.
