The trek to Scout Lake is not for the faint of heart since the trail may appear and disappear at any time. You may think the trail is easy since maps show a road leading up to the lake, but be warned that road is old, washed out and overgrown and ends in an old pile of logging debris with no real identification as to where you need to go next.
The skilled scout will be able to locate the climber track near the debris pile that works it way into the forest through streams, mud, and steep scrambles. Keep a sharp eye out as the unmarked track takes abrupt turns and goes under fallen trees, but eventually follows the outlet stream of Scout Lake until you finally arrive at the lake itself. Pick your route through brush and boulders. Camp sites are not plentiful, so day trip is recommended.
