Lost Place
Since my last visit to Samos many new caches are published. I noticed that some Dutch and German cachers made some of them. This made me decide to hide a few of my own. I am visiting Samos on a regular basis and have made several friends among the inhabitants who are willing to maintain them if necessary when needed.
There are a lot of lost places in Greece and so are there a lot on Samos island. Ofcourse the antic ones like temples and such are protected carefully. The lost place we are talking about is however not that old. This used to be a saltfactory where basins filled with seawater were dried out by the sun. A cheap way of making a business but with progressing modern techniques no longer profittable. So it closes in the late fifties according to my Samos friend Nikos. It is just left. Luckely is made a resting place for the flamingo's in the springtime on Samos island. I would say that human interference in nature has his advantages!
The picture above shows what's left...... a pile of rubble. You can park at the side of the road, lots of space and hardly any traffic. The cache is big enough to hold TB's, coins and goodies
Note: For experienced cachers only.....very difficult to find!
