Geocache Description:

This Geocache replaces our popular archived multi-cache walk in the area which had to be abandoned due to a lack of facility in the Geocaching.com system that helps create conflict of rules. Suggestions have been made as to how to overcome the issues which would be to everyone’s benefit but the response does not look promising.

Looming over the Paphos Archaeological Site, Fabrika Hill whose name originates from a nearby fabric mill, once marked the northern entrance to ancient Paphos and today serves as a scenic lookout point, offering impressive views over numerous Roman ruins, Saint Paul's Pillar and the glittering Mediterranean coast. The main attraction of Fabrika Hill is the ancient Odeon amphitheatre built on its slope, a striking limestone structure dating back to the 2nd-century. Also of interest are a number of quarry caves dating from the Hellenistic period, a partially restored ancient mosaic and the nearby Agias Solomoni Catacombs.

Towering over and around the area is a metal construction. This walkway should have linked together two sides of the UNESCO archaeological site that is currently dissected by a busy road. It was a €2.8 million contract and as we understand it the construction company has failed and everything including the road works have been left untouched for over 18 months.

The cache is a small plastic box. Please bring your own pen.

26/04/2019 Having checked the statistics we are delighted to see that Fabrika Hill has the most visits per day of all Cyprus caches. Thank you all.
