Strombolicchio EarthCache

EN: You can reach Strombolicchio only by boat from Stromboli, that is why 5* terrain (You do not have to climb anywhere for earthcache). If you want to visit top of the mountain @ lighthouse - this is possible, there are stairs.

I would like to show you a special and interesting volcanic local place. This small island is a large lava chimney of an ancient volcano - lava flowed through it to the surface. The volcano was an ancient predecessor of Stromboli and disappeared millions of years ago. When the volcano was gone, the mountain eroded and magma inside the crater survived to this day. Therefore the lava chimney is very high and the sea around it is very deep here. The peak of the island local people call "Horse head" - this is my earthcache stage.

LOGGING REQUIREMENTS:

In order to be able to log the cache, you have to answer following questions:

1) Estimate the height of the volcanic chimney / island above sea level and maximum lenght.
2) Describe how the volcanic chimney originated?
3) Why do you think the ancient volcano disapper and the chimney stayed here?
4) Float around the island - What color are the lava rocks?
5) What color is the "horse head"? N 38° 49.038 E 015° 15.156
6) Can you see any influence of the sea and weather on the lava chimney? Describe it.
7) Add a photo from your visit. (Voluntary)

Mi piacerebbe mostrarti uno speciale e interessante posto locale vulcanico. Questa piccola isola è un grande camino vulcanico di un antico vulcano - la lava scorreva attraverso la superficie. Il vulcano era un antico predecessore di Stromboli e scomparso milioni di anni fa. Quando il vulcano scomparve, la montagna si erose e il magma all'interno del cratere sopravvisse fino ad oggi. Quindi il camino di lava è molto alto e il mare attorno ad esso è molto profondo qui.
