On Sunday, September 9, 2018, the four baseball fields at Heroes Park were named in honor of two Orange County Sheriff's Deputies and two Army soldiers killed while serving their communities and country.
Signs with the name of each of the fallen heroes have been installed on the backstops of each of the four fields, and a bronze plaque in the shape of home plate with the heroes name are behind each backstop.
Those honored are OCSD deputy Darryn Robins, shot during an on-duty training accident in 1993, Deputy Bradley Riches, ambushed in 1999, Army Specialist Justin Pollard, killed in 2003 while serving in Iraq, and army corporal Matthew Swanson, who died after a vehicle accident in Afghanistan in 2009.
While you visit each of their plaques, you will gather the information needed to arrive at the final cords. You can walk or drive to the opposite side of the park to reach all of the fields.
