PORTUGUÊS: Chu Ming Silveira (Xangai, 4 de abril de 1941 - São Paulo, 18 de junho de 1997) foi uma arquiteta e designer sino-brasileira, criadora do orelhão. Notabilizou-se pela concepção dos protetores telefônicos, popularmente conhecidos como Orelhinha e Orelhão. Ícones do design brasileiro e do mobiliário urbano mundial, os protetores telefônicos foram nomeados pela Companhia Telefônica Brasileira quando de seu lançamento, Chu I e Chu II, respectivamente, em homenagem à sua criadora. O ponto de origem de seu bem sucedido projeto foi o formato do ovo, segundo ela, “a melhor forma acústica”. ENGLISH: Chu Ming Silveira (Shanghai, April 4, 1941 - June 18, 1997) was a Sino-Brazilian architect and designer, creator of the telephone booth. It was notable for the design of the telephone guards, popularly known as Orelhinha and Orelhão. Icons of Brazilian design and world street furniture, the telephone guards were named by the Brazilian Telephone Company at the time of its launch, Chu I and Chu II, respectively, in honor of its creator. The point of origin of his successful project was the shape of the egg, according to her, "the best acoustic form".
