A track leads down to the Wakamarina river from the DOC Campsite at Butchers Flat. In the summer this is a great swimming area. Or bring your gold pan and have a go at finding some gold.
Campsite is suitable for campers or tents, and is dog friendly if you have a permit from DOC. It has a limited amount of flat ground. Larger vehicles or caravans with a big overhang will struggle to get through the final ford on the road, just before the campsite.
