During my third holiday in Lumbarda I enjoyed strolling around, walked paths I never walked before - and discovered this small hidden cove.
Immediately I thought, what a gorgeous spot - perfect for smugglers to hide their emeralds. And have a look, can you see the colour of the water here? As if there would be many of them in there.
Follow the path uphill next to the "parking" spot - stay on the path, uphill - enjoy the view towards the coast. The path will lead you downhill, downhill and further downhill. It is a gravel path - I would not risk to drive there as some areas have very sharp rocks, you might risk to catch a flat tire. The path is overgrown in some parts and sharp rocks in places, I recommend good outdoor sandals or walking shoes.
When you reach the lowest section you will discover a beach for your self - about 1-2 m wide. So bring your swimwear and a towel. There are several spots which will make your cacher's soul swing. Did you see the purple horse in the tree? Did you find the smuggler's cave?
To find the cache: it is a hidden in a plastic box with a purple top (previously used for washing taps) - the cache itself is a petling with several logs inside. The plastic box is hidden in a niche between the rocks, a higher level, below a bush. I will upload several spoilers to make it a bit easier for you. To protect this plastic box in its hide as best as possible I covered it with several smaller rocks and pine needles and leaves.
To find the right spot: before you enter the mini-beach, climb the rocks to your right, you may reach the spot by following a small narrow path through the trees and bushes - right side of the cove, but follow towards the coords back to the waterfront. You are very close when you see the larger smuggler's cave (see pic) with a pine tree growing right on top at the other side of the cove.
Before you leave this beautiful area, I have added another waypoint - viewpoint. Great to sit, enjoy the view over the coastline, the brave amoung you can start to swim from here as well - but have in mind, the coastal rocks are very sharp.
Enjoy this amazing smaragd blue cove - Happy Caching.
