Geocache Description:

This cache commemorates the route of the Old Hume Highway and the flooding of the original village of Bowna due to the construction of Hume Dam on the Murray River in the early 1930's.  Bowna was reported as being a "neat little town" on the Hume Highway next to Twelve Mile Creek.  Disappearing under the waters went The White Horse Hotel, The Mechanics Institute and the steam powered flour mill.  However it is said that in times of drought and the dam levels are very low, Old Bowna rooftops re-appear among the elderly sentinels of grey, dead trees.

The original Hume Highway east from Albury passed along the Riverina Highway, then Table Top Road, then Old Sydney Road.  Prior to turning into Bowna Waters Reserve, you will be on Old Sydney Road which is now blocked off.  Imagine its one time route across the then valley, the types of vehicles and the people who used this road in the early part of last century.

Bowna Waters Reserve has lots of tables and chairs so bring a picnic and enjoy this peaceful part of the Albury region.

A small spider has since taken up residence to guard the cache so I advise the wearing of gloves.

This should be a fairly easy cache so I offer no hints.
